We don’t need long prompts to make good images

Short, simple ones can give good results too.

Panning, zooming and image variations are incredibly powerful tools in Midjourney.

How to make Image Variations?

First, we want to choose an image that we like.

Suppose you generated the images below.

In my case I like the “U4” image. Press the “U4” button to enlarge it.

Then you will see something like this

Let’s start by making image variations.

This means that we will ask Midjourney to generate 4 more pictures that look like this picture.

If you want the new images to look more different, press “Vary (Strong)”.

If you want them to look more similar, press “Vary (Subtle)”.

In my case I pressed “Vary (Subtle)”

I pressed the “Vary (Subtle)” button.

Here are the results.

Notice how they look similar to the original image.

The lighting and mood are the same.

But some small details are different.

You can keep making more variations until you find an image that you’re satisfied with.

Now, let us talk about how to zoom images.

If you press “Zoom Out 2x”, then Midjourney will expand the edges of the image to make it bigger by 2x.

Similarly for “Zoom Out 1.5x”.

Let’s talk about panning.

For this demonstration, we’ll use a different image PROMPT:

Notice that there are arrow buttons at the bottom of the image.

will pan the image to the left.

I want to see more of the blue sky on the left, so I decided to pan the image to the left.

we’re going to learn how to use images as prompts.

For example, suppose you took the photo below in real life, and you really like it.

And you want Midjourney to generate more pictures based on this reference image.

Follow these steps:

Step @ 1

First, click the “+” icon on the Discord chat bar.

Then, upload the image that you want.

After uploading the image as you wish , this is what it is supposed to look like:

Type “/imagine” in the chat bar.

Then, drag and drop the image into the chat bar.

Note: If you are using mobile, you can’t drag and drop.

Instead, you can tap on the image, and then press “Copy Media Link”.

Type “/imagine”, then paste the link there.

Here are the results. Notice how the new images all look really similar to the original image. This similarity is hard to achieve if you don’t use a reference photo

We can go further.

You can ask Midjourney to generate images that are slightly different from the reference photo.

For example, I like this image, but I want:

1) The photo to become a colorful illustration

2) The couple to be standing instead of sitting

Find the video to add photo and make changes in the prompt

You can even control the “weightage” of the image.

Higher weightage values means that Midjourney follows the reference image more closely.

Minimum weightage = 0

Default weightage = 1

Maximum weightage = 2

Below are the few examples by varying image weights.

To view the settings in Midjourney, type “/settings” in the chat bar, and press ENTER.

This is what you should see.

The settings are divided into 7 categories:

1. Model to use

2. RAW mode

3. Stylize low/medium/high

4. Public/stealth mode

5. High/low variation mode

6. Remix mode

7. Turbo/fast/relax mode

Setting 1: Model to use From the dropdown menu, you can choose which model to use.

Most models are old and produce lower quality results.

So, you only need to remember 2 models:

1) Midjourney Model V5.2 (default)

2) Niji Model V5

Midjourney Model V5.2 is the default model.

Meanwhile, Niji Model V5 is used to make anime-style images.

To test the models,

I’ll be using the same prompt.

Prompt: a boy playing basketball

The images below were all generated with Niji.

Note : Before generating NIJI images – Disable “RAW Mode” in Settings

Setting 2: Raw mode Press the “RAW Mode” button to activate raw mode.

Once activated, it makes your images more realistic.

Setting 3: Stylize low/medium/high You can press the following buttons to change the stylize setting. – Stylize low – Stylize med – Stylize high – Stylize very high What does it do?

Setting 4: Public/stealth mode By default, you are always in public mode.

This means that other people can see all the images you generate in the Midjourney gallery.

You can go private by changing to “stealth mode”.

But you can only do so if you buy the $60/month pro plan.

Setting 5: High/low variation mode This mode is used to control how different the variations are from the original image when pressing the “V1, V2, V3, V4” buttons.

Suppose I like the 3rd image and want to generate more variations.

So, let’s press V3.

Here are the new images generated.

Notice that in high variation mode, the new images are more different and varied compared to the original image.

Setting 6: Remix mode When you turn on remix mode, you are able to CHANGE the prompt of the image when making variations.

Let me explain with an example below.

Let’s say you like image #3, and want to generate more variations of it.

But you want the new images of the boy and girl to be UNDERWATER.

How?

1. Turn on Remix mode.

2. Then, press V3.

You will see this box pop up.

You can now change the prompt before making variations.

For example, I changed it to…

Prompt: a boy and a girl diving underwater, colorful corals After changing the prompt, press “Submit”.

Here are the results.

Notice that the boy and the girl are now underwater.

Setting 7: Turbo/fast/relax mode

This setting controls how fast Midjourney generates your images.

Relax: Images are generated slowly. But they are FREE. Can only use with $30/month and above plan

Fast: Default mode

Turbo: This mode generates images super fast, at 2x the cost

Parameteres in MidJourney

@ 1 : Aspect Ratio

To change the aspect ratio of your image,

just put “–aspect X:Y” at the end of your prompt. X and Y are ratios.

X represents the width and Y represents the height.

Example prompt: a rocket –aspect 2:3

The width of this image will be 2/3 of its height.

We can write the prompt in either way

The default aspect ratio is 1:1, which is a square.

A tall aspect ratio like –aspect 2:3 is suitable for people and vertical objects.

A wide aspect ratio like –aspect 3:2 is suitable for scenery and landscapes.

Prompt: breathtaking landscape shot, [LOCATION] –ar 3:2 –style raw

Here’s the secret: Adding “breathtaking” and “–style raw” makes the landscape both stunning & photorealistic.
